My Take!
12/15/11

I'm kind of pissed right now.

I'm a common man. Nothing special here.
I have no fortune. I live in a modest house. I will probably never have a lot of money.
As a American my rights are being assaulted from all fronts so while I still have the chance I will use the right speak frankly.
So right now I am going to speak the plain truth.

I have spent a long time looking to become a man my father, gone now for many a year, would be proud of.
I won't lie. I was a sorry state of affair for a long time. As a youngster , I spent quite a bit of time thinking that I could do whatever I wanted and there would be no consequences. I felt then as if I was owed something and that this world needed me and not the other way around. I did not fully appreciate my blessings and what things had been sacrificed by others for my benefit.
I lost my father when I was very young and my mother, who assuredly loved me, was unable to control a selfish, immature hellion who was determined to make sure his needs and wants were adhered to above all others. My teen years through the 70's were a blur of drugs, sex and rocknroll. I was lucky though. I was not so removed from the conservative morals of my family as I would have others believe. After all the despicable acts I perpetrated and all the ridiculous situations I put myself in my saving grace was a deep current of morals as well as a love of my family and country that as I grew and matured came to become the foundation of my future.
As a young adult I did not have the luxury of a college education. Also I married and fathered young. So I learned quickly that life was not going to be a free ride that I could coast on. Working to support a family I learned a trade and grew to admire those who created the business's that offered me an opportunity to improve my lot. Those opportunities allowed me to become a fairly successful employee and thus was able to give my family a comfortable, secure life. A favorite boss once told me "hard work and clean living, that's how you do it son" .
That adage has been in my head for a long time and I have found that simple statement nurtured in me an ability to see the world more clearly. It has allowed me to understand that there is a natural balance to the world. Things are only as hard as you make them mostly. There are those who are ignorant and those who are plain stupid. And there is good and evil in the world. And you'll find them in all quarters. Even at my worst I held some things in respect. I never believed that the way to protest a perceived wrong to destroy someone else's property. And I never allowed myself to become the puppet of another person or party. All the responsibility and consequences from my stupid choices and all my success from the good ones are mine and mine alone. I pay the price for the former. And likewise I benefit from the latter. This is as it should be.
When I profit from my hard work and wise choices, I and I alone am the deciding factor on what benefits others receive from my earnings. Now I am not a selfish man. I learned the hard way that frugality with without a sense of appreciation is not the way to live a life. I have a part of me that finds joy in helping others when and where I am able. On the other hand, I find it immensely frustrating to be told how my charity should be doled out. Especially by others who have not earned the right to do so. Now I see a part of our society that is impeding on the rights of the individual to pursue our God given and constitutionally assured freedoms. Everywhere I look there are groups that want to change America "fundamentally". Large segments of the populace expect that their welfare is to be funded by someone other than themselves. Worse yet we have a system in place that perpetuates this and has created a sub class of citizens that are draining this nation of it's ability to remain strong. Instead of helping to put them back on their feet and helping people to become free and independant, the system has nurtured lifestyles of apathy and slothfull irresponsibility.
The government has been perverted from within. No longer do I see separation of power that maintains a balance of power that assures just adjudication of law. No longer do the branches of our system appear to have the health of our country as their guiding path.
No longer is this country showing it's rightful duty to be the "Shining City on the Hill"
Instead I see a government out of control. When our leaders should be busy working to get a handle on our exploding debt they are mouthing empty promises all the while using their political connections to fill their already bulging pockets. They waste time pointing fingers at each other instead of looking for ways to reduce the size of federal expenditures.
In my house when we have a bill we are expected to pay it. If we don't there are consequences. When times are tight we look first to what ways are available to reduce debt by limiting spending. We don't look first to increase our cash reserve by borrowing or asking others to give us theirs. We cut spending and then look for
ways earn more income. Honestly, legally!
But the government has excused itself of that reality. Those that write the laws have created an environment that omits truth and manipulates the facts. They play by a set of rules that we would never be allowed to. No responsibility for bad choices. No responsibility for theft. No responsibility for fraud. Not for the political elite. All the while they hide the depth of the corruption by directing the attention, the spotlight not on themselves. Instead they lay the blame for all the troubles of our country at the feet of big business. They bail out the banks with our money and then call them thieves. They point the finger at those who would call them on their acts. They label them as radicals. They spend huge sums of taxpayers funds in perfectly planned schemes to silence those that would expose them. They created a false economy based on using others money, cashing in wherever they can while the getting is good and then when bubble bursts using the system to deflect truth and use tactics that make a confused public angry not at the real culprits but at the very people who warned against the very actions they are accused of.
Using the pliable clay of a gullible public they have convinced a good portion that a larger involvement in their lives is a good thing. That they are no longer capable of taking care of themselves. And so they pass laws telling common Americans how and where their money can be spent. How and when their health needs will be attended to. As time passes they will find more ways to infiltrate the every day issues Americans deal with, slowly and surely taking control of every aspect of your life until it is no longer yours. And the public is obviously fine with that. Willing to pass on person responsibility as long as they have their toys. Happy to hand over all that is important as they get drunk on a concoction of quiet perversions... you know.... sex, drugs and rocknroll. Just fine with a benevolent master that condones their sins, their laziness even helping them to quiet their conscious of the wrongness by passing laws that undermine the moral fabric of society but allows even more intrusion in the individual's life.
So look at the youth of today. Who are their heroes? When everything they see is jaded and they have no faith in their society what will the cling to? Where will they look to that will offer them a sane outlook for their future. Look at those who fill the ranks of the Occupy movement. Do you see anything of value there? Can you really blame them for acting the way they do? They way they perceive the world they live in. Who should you blame for the movement?
Of course they bear the responsibility of their actions in the streets. Their blatant disregard for private property is well documented. Many disgusting acts were seen and no doubt the violence perpetrated by some are to be attributive to those specific individuals.
You would have blind and stupid not to see that the organization of the protests were more than just random groups gathering due to an opportunity rather than planned action. Similar to many of the protests held during the 60's these were definably orchestrated by activist groups that had a specific goals, stated or otherwise, that they could further with the help of throngs of immature young and elements of society that feed on disruptive events. Oh sure, Those in attendance will argue vehemently that they are there of their own accord, that there is no structure to the movement and that this was only a ad hoc reaction to perceived injustices perpetrated against the "99%" by the "1%".  And assuredly most did come on their own but how did they know when to? Or where to meet? Somewhere some group assembled and controlled the start and drew the others to them. But in the end does it matter where it came from on the ground? The "Occupation" movement will go away like all others.
My anger is not pointed at the 99% or the 1%. These are just pawns on the board. If the protesters had any sense they would see they are being played. Their value as a movement is only as another distraction from the real threats to our country and society. I'm not mocking the concerns some have on the actions of some in the financial sector. There are real problems that need to be addressed as there are in many areas of our republic. But this movement is not about injustice perpetrated by the 1%. Again just as in the 60's there groups behind the scenes are looking to create disruption to further their influence on our system of government and to destroy American capitalism in the process. If you were to take a cross section of the players in politics today you will find that a large percentage are former activists and like minded associates. They have made a concerted effort to infiltrate and change our political landscape. Over the years many have become powerful members of government. It is amazing to listen to them speak of the populist dogma all the while sacking the coffers for their own benefit. They know what side of the bread to put the butter. They pander to the left because they know it keeps them in place. Where the money is.
They disgust me and I'm pissed.
But I'm not so pissed that I can't see the whole bowl of crap. The right has an opportunity to put into place people who can put things back in a better state of being. As I watch the Republican presidential candidates attempt to get their word out the party has made a decided effort to cannibalize itself by allowing the old school hacks put roadblock after roadblock up against fresh faces and new blood. They have done everything they could to help the left destroy people and elements that are not part of the mainstream republican party. Just as the Democrat elite are perpetuating this political morass for their benefit so are long entrenched right wing party members looking to eliminate any possible impeachment of the status quo. For to do otherwise would be to allow the truth to be shown. As long as they are allowed to maintain their control over the party and quench the fires of conservative reform this country will continue on it's downward spiral until there is nothing left.
I am pissed not because the system is broke but because it has been perverted from within. We have allowed what our forefathers warned us of to become a reality.

Instead of a confederate of individuals who control their lives, we have become a borderless nation whose citizens have become servants to the central government.....and soon to become a second rate entity who answers to  foreign powers.....
Yeah, you could say that pisses me off!
